The Picasso Museum in Barcelona is a key reference for understanding the formative years of Pablo Ruiz Picasso.
The genius of the young artist is revealed through the more than 3,800 works that make up the permanent collection.
Furthermore, the Museu Picasso, opened in 1963, also reveals his deep relationship with Barcelona: an intimate, solid relationship that was shaped in his adolescence and youth, and continued until his death.

What does the program consist of?
During the summer we organise a very comprehensive program for students of Spanish who want to improve their knowledge while living with a host familiy and having a great time! The program includes:
Exhibition organized by the International Center of Photography, New York (ICP) in co-production with the MNAC.
Robert Capa was one of the most outstanding photographers of the 20th century. His pictures were published in the most important illustrated magazines, where he made his name, and in which he honed his technique as a master of modern photojournalism. This is war! Robert Capa at work is a pioneering exhibition that takes a fresh look at Capa’s contribution during the 1930s and 1940s.
Sharing the room with this show, the MNAC is exhibiting Gerda Taro, the first major retrospective dedicated to this photojournalist, Capa’s collaborator and lover.
The MNAC is playing host to the two exhibitions precisely in 2009, the 70th anniversary of the end of the Spanish Civil War.
